We are now accepting applications for our 2010 Oil Spill Response Team training, sponsored by the San Francisco Foundation Cosco Busan Oil Spill Fund.
Over the course of the year, participants will be trained in oil spill response with the hope that they will be able to join our world renowned team of experts. While this will be a volunteer position at first, you will be considered for spill response, which can be a temporary paid position.
Recruits are being sought for two distinct roles - the Field Response Team (search and capture of oiled birds), and The Rehabilitation Team (the care of the oiled birds in a hospital-like setting).
Please review the following conditions before requesting an application:
• US Citizenship
• Minimum age of 21 years
• No felony convictions
• Valid Drivers License
• Good driving record
• Auto insurance
• Reference and background check
• Moderate physical performance test
• Time commitment of time:
Training workshops – you will be required to attend trainings on either a Saturday or Sunday at our Fairfield, CA bird center. Field team will have field trips.
These dates are the tentative 2010 schedule:
Orientation: April 10
Training: June 5 & 6
Training: August 14 & 15
Training: October 16
Graduation: Dec 4 or 11.
Volunteer hours at our Fairfield bird center – You must be able to complete no less than 160 hours by the end of November 2010.
• Availability.
Your lifestyle and employment must be such that you can be available on a moment’s notice and be able to work/volunteer a minimum of ten consecutive days during a disaster response.
